What about a Camping Shower?

Do you love camping, but either tire of the gritty feeling you find, or the crowds of public showers? Beyond that, do you have the need to camp closer to civilization to camp with showers? While many larger camp grounds do provide them, it’s not much different from the hustle and bustle of real life, leaving you little peace, quiet, or privacy. This makes it hard to enjoy nature.

Many of these sites have picnic tables, parking spots on roadside, and community showers (often cheep, occasionally included in your camping fee). At night you hear people close or far, and it’s not quite as peaceful, and costs you more most of the time. Beyond that there are often a lot of rules.

For the true outdoor enthusiast, it’s all about you, and the limited items you bring. You’re getting away from big population and heading out to rough it.

In the old days there was the simple water bag camping shower with a valve that you could hang from a tree or anything else above. These worked especially well if you allowed the water to warm up by day, and shower in the evening. However on cold days, or when setup and showering on the fly, you would often get a cold camping shower. They also left little privacy if you had others near as they still didn’t give you privacy. Of course you can find ways to cover it such as tarp, blankets, etc. Then theirs the dirt and pine needles on the ground as you shower that might leave your feet dirty anyways.

Modern times have brought about a number of new ingenious ideas, and camping showers are one of the areas that have benefited. There are a number to choose from. These include those that are self-heated and also pump water. This way you don’t need to freeze in the morning.

On the side of privacy these camping showers have much more to offer and usually come with privacy walls that still allow good airflow/ventilation. The floors also isolate you from the ground underneath for more comfort at the feet. These allow you a little more of the cleaning comfort of home, with the privacy and distance you would like in your outdoor recreation.

In the end, you will want to look online, and at your local stores for your options in camping showers. This will help you find the best selection to choose from, and ultimately the best price you can find for your choice.
